Fried egg appearance

Fried egg appearance is found in mycoplasma colonies.

Mycoplasma colonies:

  • biphasic – distinct central and peripheral zones
  • central zone – opaque, granular – growth extending into the depth of the medium
  • peripheral zone – translucent, flat
