Himalayan goitre belt

It refers to the area of northern India extending 24ookm from Kashmir in the west to Naga hills in the east where goitre is endemic. It is the largest goitre belt in the world. The following states are included in the Himalayan Goitre Belt:

  • Jammu and Kashmir
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Delhi
  • Punjab
  • Haryana
  • Uttar Pradesh
  • Bihar
  • West Bengal
  • Sikkin
  • Arunachal Pradesh
  • Assam
  • Mizoram
  • Nagaland
  • Manipur
  • Meghalaya
  • Tripura
